UK Quad Posters For as long as I've been obsessed with movies - I've also been obsessed with movie posters. My preferred style is the UK Quad, these are roughly 30" x 40" in size and are landscape in design. My love for movie posters began when I was very young, I explain in my blog how this happened. Since then I loved seeing new movie posters as they appeared in preparation for a movie's release. When I was about 15 I began collecting them, I discovered mail-order "companies" where you could buy them and "film-fairs" that were put on every couple of months in venues across the country. I got myself quite a collection over the years but sadly, when times were hard, i had to make a difficult decision and sell almost all of them off. I kept a handful of favourites but it still hurts a little bit to think how many I had and how I miss just owning them.
Luckily there are still ways to get your hands on quads, and also ways just to view them if you so desire.... One of the best, if not the best, poster sites around is Film On Paper which is run by Eddie Shannon. As Eddie himself explains on the site, he began it as a way to view his collection without always having to handle his collection. Eddie also hoped the site would become a place for fellow collectors, designers and movie fans to admire the artwork and learn more about movie posters in general. The site is packed with great images, backgrounds and history of posters, interviews with designers. It's an amazingly informative site that deserves the attention of anyone with even the slightest interest. Eddie has kindly allowed me to use a few images from his site here, I have chosen just a few of the quads that I love, some I even used to own (blub). You may be wondering why I don't use quads on the individual screenshots pages here on Blushots - well that's really because getting good quality images of quads online is quite difficult whereas one-sheets are in abundance.
I hope you enjoy these choices and please try and stop by Film On Paper sometime, and thanks again to Eddie.
